Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment poses with rarely seen son, 16 – and he already TOWERS over his dad
CORONATION Street’s Andy Whyment today posed with his rarely seen 16-year-old son – and he already TOWERS over his famous dad.
The much-loved soap star, 43, likes nothing more than spending time with his family, and for Christmas he treated them to a cruise.

Ditching the cold weather in his native Manchester, the actor took his family on a Caribbean cruise.
He shared his holiday on Instagram with a slew of snaps, and wrote: “Had the most amazing Christmas and New Year onboard @msccruisesofficial Seaside around the Caribbean making more memories with the family and friends.”
However, it was his son that caught the attention of fans.
At just 16-years-old Thomas towered over his dad, who himself stands at 5ft 8inches.
The young lad could be seen beaming in photos as he stood tall next to his family.
Andy and wife Nichola tied the knot in on June 23, 2007, after meeting in 2004 in Manchester.
The soap star previously told OK!: “I fancied Nic for some time, but nothing happened.
“Then we copped off one night and it wasn’t too long before I realised she was the one I wanted to be with.
“I said in my wedding speech you just know when you meet the one, and that’s true.”
Last year, Andy signed a large six figure salary to remain on the cobbles for the foreseeable future, having already played the character of Kirk Sutherland for nearly 25 years.
He joined the soap in 2000 as the brother of Maria Connor (played by Samia Longchambon) who he used to share the Weatherfield Kennels with.
However, since 2010 Kirk has been a packer at Underworld.
Andy loves spending time with his family[/caption] The actor has been playing the hapless character Kirk for 25 years[/caption]The actor is more than happy to continue playing the loveable character, with an ITV source telling The Sun at the time: “Andy just loves Corrie. It is in his blood and he never wants to go anywhere else.
“Lots of other actors get itchy feet and want to go on to do other stuff and some think they want to star in ‘higher quality’ telly.
“But for Andrew, there is no higher-quality telly.
“It’s the nation’s favourite soap – a national institution that’s been on the box for 60 years, so why would he want to go anywhere else?”
