Brand new ‘feel-good’ dating show set to hit screens – with a completely new twist
TV execs are ready to answer the prayers of single vicars — by creating a dating show just for them.
They hope to attract candidates like fun-loving Anglican Geraldine Granger, who was played by Dawn French on classic BBC sitcom The Vicar of Dibley.
But they will also be approaching equivalents from different faiths, including the Muslim and Jewish communities as well as spiritual groups.
A TV insider said: “This promises to be a real belter of a show because it’s made by Ricochet, the same production company who gave us The Repair Shop.
“In this case they’ll be mending broken hearts, and see vicars and other religious leaders as intriguing people who deserve to find love just like the rest of us.
“Though there’ll obviously be some personal hoops to jump through, particularly those whose faiths prescribe certain behaviours when it comes to sex, love and marriage.”
An ad for a “feel-good TV show” is appealing for “single religious leaders who are looking for true love”.
The programme is likely to air on BBC Three, Channel 4 or a streaming service.
