As well as facing the daily challenges and escaping Bear Grylls’ clutches in the missions, the stars have to bed down beside one another in their shared Costa Rican lodgings.
Whilst there was always the chance of tension, Netflix bosses were not prepared for the level of arguing among the cast and were forced to intervene before things really got out of hand.
A source told The Sun: “There were some big personalities there and naturally, tensions started to brew.
“Tempers started to fray and people didn’t hold back.
“Things got so bad one night that the big bosses called an emergency meeting to remind the celebs that this was supposed to be a family friendly show.
“This really didn’t go down well with the stars, including Danny Cipriani – the last thing he wanted was to be on a show like Big Brother, which is full of rows and drama.”
The Sun has approached Netflix for comment.
A first-look trailer for the programme, which launches on February 5, sees fiery rows beginning to break out among some of the stars.
Ted Lasso actor and Race Across The World star Kola Bikinni can be seen saying to his fellow junglemates: “That place is like hell.”
The Saturdays singer Una Healy can then be seen saying to the camera: “There’s a lot of tension in the air.”
Another scene then sees Kola launching his belongings across to the other side of the room as Lottie screams: “You’re so grumpy every time you lose!”
Ballroom dancer Shirley can then be seen frustrated with her co-stars as she mocks them to the camera.
Amid the tension, which fans can expect to see play it out in full on the show, another star almost quit the programme after claiming a co-star was receiving unfair “special treatment”.

Another insider told us: “Danny seemed to think host Holly was getting special treatment and every decision was being made around her comfort.”
They added: “Danny was adamant he was going to leave and even packed his bags, giving producers no option but to step in.
“They persuaded him to stay but it really ruined the rest of his time on the show.
“He made a couple of new friendships but it’s safe to say Danny has ruled out reality TV for good – he was relieved when it was over and couldn’t wait to get back to LA.”
