Carl Woods calls failed IVF with Katie Price ‘a blessing in disguise’ as he ‘cuts final tie’ with her after documentary
KATIE PRICE’S ex-fiancé Carl Woods has branded their failed IVF treatment a “blessing in disguise” ahead of the release of a documentary about it on Channel 4.
The former couple filmed their treatment as they tried for a first baby together in the summer of 2023 – but months later they broke up.
Car dealer Carl, 35, admits he’s relieved and glad that the exes don’t have a child binding them together.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, he says: “This is not a heartbreak situation. I’m not unhappy that it didn’t work. I’m ecstatic that it didn’t work.
“I’m sure she’s glad she’s got the clean break. You know, we don’t have any ties.
“So actually, yes, everything happens for a reason. God was looking down on me and Kate and said, ‘you’re not matched to be parents, let’s not make this work. You go that way, I’ll go this way’.”
The IVF process involves removing an egg from a woman’s ovaries and fertilising them using sperm in a laboratory.
The fertilised egg, also known as an embryo, is transferred back into a woman’s womb to grow.
The first of two instalments of Katie Price: Making Babies will air on Monday.
Carl won’t be tuning in and declined the offer from the production company to watch a preview of the programme.
Mum-of-five Katie, 46, has already said she has no interest in watching it and revisiting a difficult time in her life.
“My thoughts are that it’s old news, everybody’s moved on,” says Carl.
“I can’t see the point in it airing.”
He continues: “It’s coming out, it is what it is. I can’t understand why. I’m sure Kate can’t understand why as well.
“I’m not stressed about it. I’m not going to watch it. You know, it was a long time ago. Bygones be bygones. It’s all buried.
“She won’t reach out to me, I won’t reach out to her. There’s nothing to talk about. It is the final tie, I guess, that we have to each other.”
The IVF treatment followed a turbulent period in which Carl discovered Katie had cheated on him with former international polo star Jamie Morrison and traded sexy messages with an England footballer.
In hindsight, he believes they shouldn’t have even started the process of trying for a baby.
He recalls how he returned from visits to the clinic questioning what they were doing.
“You know, it wasn’t a good period of time,” he says. “We wasn’t right for each other and we shouldn’t have been filming an IVF doc, because IVF and having children puts strain on a relationship and when you’re relationship is not good already, I mean, I think Kate would agree with me, we was in no position to be doing that and we shouldn’t have done it.
“But we did, you know, we went through it and I dare say you’ll see some ups and downs. I dare say you’ll see some cracks appear.
“During filming I knew that it was wrong, so it was an uncomfortable time from my point of view.
“We’d filmed the day and I’d think, ‘you know what, we shouldn’t be doing this’, but we was in the contract, it was happening and that’s life.”
Neither Katie or Carl have profited from the production, instead the budget was spent funding the treatment.
“I wasn’t paid anything personally for it and I didn’t pay for any treatment, and Kate didn’t pay for any treatment. It was just the doc fee that covered it,” confirms Carl.
Had the process been successful, he doesn’t believe it would have made any difference to the outcome of their relationship.
“I think we would have ended up in the same place that we’re in now to be truthful with you,” he says.
“It would have just been more complicated because there would have been a child involved.”
