Sharing the heartwarming moment on TikTok, she said: “Asking my perfect aunty to be my maid of honour. I always knew she’d be the one for the job .”
In the clip, the bride-to-be presents unsuspecting Jane with a bottle bag and special note attached.
Thrilled with just the booze, Jane gushes: “Oh lovely! I love that!”
It’s only after Caitlin prompts her to read the note that she discovers her real gift.
Appearing confused at first, Jane reads: “Pairs well with maid of honour duties. Auntie Jane will you be my maid of honour?”
And her confusion quickly transforms to delight as she gives Caitlin a huge hug and kiss, before joking: “You want an old woman to be your maid of honour?”
Commenting on the sweet moment later, Jane added: “I’m blown away. So honoured. Love my beautiful niece so much.”
And it’s not just Jane who’s been left touched by the heartwarming gesture, with the clip going viral with more than 250,000 views.
One social media user insisted: “I think you Mrs are about to start the wonderful trend of asking our older nearest and dearest to fulfill these duties. Beautiful.”
A second echoed: “Love this, wish I’d had older members of my family having key parts in the day. Have fun with all the planning you two.”
A third added: “I love this – aunties are special – what a beautiful moment/choice.”
“This is so wholesome”, cried a fourth.
A fifth admitted: “Omg I’m sobbing how cute.”
Meanwhile, a sixth chimed in: “I’m crying! That’s so sweet.”
It’s not the first time a bride-to-be has gone viral lately.
Sally Morton, 39, had planned to propose to her girlfriend Leanne Stewart, 35, a few days before Christmas during a trip to Edinburgh.
Little did she know that Leanne had the exact same plan and responded to her proposal by getting down on one knee as well.
The pair’s heartwarming video shows Sally getting down on one knee to propose to Leanne, who can be seen clutching to the ring box in her pocket, also ready to propose.
Both women had been planning their individual proposals for over a year and had bought rings for each other less than a month apart.
