Major broadcasting change as massive EFL derby to be shown on free-to-air TV after landmark deal
A HUGE EFL derby is the next match to be shown on free-to-air TV as part of a landmark deal.
Leeds’ home clash at Elland Road against Sheffield Wednesday will be shown on ITV on Sunday.
Sky and ITV announced they had reached an agreement to show Championship and Carabao Cup fixtures free-to-air earlier in the season.
The deal started in January with the first leg of the Carabao Cup tie between Arsenal and Newcastle.
Now Championship football will follow on ITV with top of the table Leeds kicking it off against Wednesday.
Middlesbrough’s derby with Sunderland will then follow on ITV on Monday, February 3.
Five Championship games are scheduled to be broadcast for free over the second half of this season.
And the second leg of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham is also going to be on ITV on February 6.
The Premier League leaders are currently trailing 1-0.
