Barron was a promising young footballer at the time, who had previously been on the books of DC United’s academy.
Rooney told SkyBet’s The Overlap that Trump asked him to give “football lessons” to his youngest child.
Clips previously emerged on social media of Barron playing football, with his hold up play and physique seeing him compared to Peter Crouch.
In fact, both are exactly the same height and stand at 6 feet, 7 inches tall.
Rooney met Trump another time, playing a round of golf together.
Explaining how it came about, the recently axed Plymouth boss said: “It was when he asked me to give his son some football lessons in DC.
“He said ‘do you want to see my Dad?’ So I said ‘yeah’ and he has taken me into the Oval Office.

“Just from there his PA was texting saying do you want to play a round of golf with him?
“The maddest thing about it was you had Rudy Giuliani (former New York mayor), in a buggy behind us.
“Then there was about 50 to 100 buggies all behind him all security.
“Then there was a boat on the lake with snipers, snipers in the bushes. I was just like what is going on here.”
During Rooney’s White House experience, wife Coleen was shocked by a comment Trump made to Barron when they first met.
She revealed that he turned to his boy and muttered: “See, I told you all the soccer players get the good-looking girls.”
While in the I’m A Celebrity jungle, Coleen expanded on the story, revealing “I told my mum and mum was like, ‘dirty b*****d’.
“We didn’t spend that much time there.
“We went with the four kids – there were tables and chairs and everything – and they were eating chicken nuggets on the floor under the table.
“It was a bit of a strange set-up, but it was an experience.”
