New Legoland attraction to open in Europe with huge pirate playground, ships and slides
DENMARK’S Legoland is opening a new pirate playground.
When the Billund theme park reopens in April, there will be a new surprise for kids – a pirate playground with huge ship and inclusive play area.
As a new part of Pirate Land, the park will be hard to miss thanks to its new huge ship, which is 70ft long with a 37ft high mast.
It’s set to “inspire imagination” as children can aim cannons, climb up and down the ship, and use the yellow slides.
The three-floor ship is made with accessibility in mind, with a ramp allowing wheelchair access.
Like other parks, there will be a Legoland character ready to walk the plank, and available for a meet and greet too.
Captain Redbeard will be wandering the park while “looking for his treasure” while kids can interact and take pictures with him.
The giant ship isn’t the only part of the playground – there’s also the ‘King Crab Island’.
Aimed for smaller children, this is where they can climb, use the slides and have their own adventure in the park.
Around Pirate Land are obstacles for the older kids and building areas where everyone can get creative with LEGO – even the parents.
Fans of LEGO will recognise the ship that was inspired by their model, The Brick Bounty.
It’s not the only Pirate Land that’s having a new addition.
The park’s Miniland, based on the Danish city of Aarhus, is being improved.
Joining Miniland are the cities landmarks, like the cathedral which took an incredible 2300 hours to build – which is the equivalent of 95 days.
A City Hall building which is made up of 500,000 LEGO bricks and was created in 850 hours.
In total, the new Miniland created were built from 2.5 million LEGO bricks.
The LEGO city joins the other Danish miniatures of Copenhagen, Skagen, Ribe, and Esbjerg.
In Billund, the LEGO shop has also undergone a transformation where you can also design and personalise your very own LEGO Minifigure to make it one of a kind.
You can buy a day pass online for 299 DKK (£33.49) when the park reopens in April 2025.
To get to Legoland Billund from the UK, you can fly to Billund or take the ferry to the Netherlands, before travelling to the park.
