Body found in search of man missing for nearly two weeks as remains discovered in water off major city road
A BODY has been found in the search for a man missing for nearly two weeks.
Frank Bayley was discovered by cops in water off Corporation Road, Newport, at around 5.10pm yesterday.
The 69-year-old, from Maindee, has been missing from the city since January 21.
Gwent Police has confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers carrying out searches as part of a missing person‘s investigation found the body of a man in water off Corporation Road, Newport, at around 5.10pm on Monday 3 February.
“We were then assisted by the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA).
“Family attended and have formally identified the man as Frank Bayley, 69, from Newport, who was reported as missing.
“Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
Frank was previously described as around 5ft 11in with a piercing in his left ear.
He also has several tattoos including a large black panther on his arm and a small blue ink mark on his face.
