I’m planning my wedding but RAGING at my sister for her dress – my mum doesn’t get it but others agree she is being evil

EVERYONE knows that the first rule of going to a wedding is don’t wear white so you don’t upstage the bride.

However, one bride-to-be was recently left fuming after her sister sent her the dress she planned to wear to her special day.

The sister had chosen a floor-length, strapless dress, but it wasn’t the style that left the bride feeling upset.

In a photo shared to Reddit, the engaged woman showed how although the dress was described as “pale blue”, it looked remarkably close to white.

Even if the dress looked more blue in the flesh than white, the bride shared how she was still hurt by the choice.

She explained: “The dress code also explicitly says: no light/pale colours.

“My other sister send me a text about my sister’s dress so I could confront her.

“She told me that she told my sister not to buy the dress bcs it was too light and she said that she didn’t care.”

While many people supported her in the comments, the bride said that her own family thought the dress was ok.

The Reddit user continued: “My mother apparently also doesn’t see a problem with it.”

People were quick to back her up that they would be annoyed at the dress choice too.

One person wrote: “Yeah. She just wants attention and the wedding to be about her.

“I’d let it happen and not even look at her a single time. No pics, no cake.”

Another added: “I’m in favour of the bride or her party having a little accident with some red wine.”

And a third commented: “tell her to find something else or she can stay home and your mum can keep her company.”

Bridal stylist Gabrielle Hurwitz agreed that colours close to white should also be avoided.

She shared on Martha Stewart: “To be extra safe, I’d also think twice about silver, champagne, blush, and pale blue, which can read as white in photos.

“If you’re unsure of a colour, take several photos of the garment in different lighting setups (natural daylight, dim light, candlelight, etc) to see how it reads on camera.

“Depending on the dress code, you might be able to get away with a knee-length pale blush or ice blue dress for cocktail attire since its length won’t look like a wedding dress, but I would still avoid fabrics like lace and tulle that can read more traditionally bridal.

“If you have to ask if something looks too white, chances are, it probably is.”

Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble.

  • Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
  • Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
  • Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
  • Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
  • Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.
