THE four BEST electric motors, from family cars to premium models, have been revealed.

The comparisons and ratings have been revealed by the Driving Electric Awards 2025.

Citroen e-C3

The Citroen e-C3 was ranked the best value electric car, as one of the most affordable on the market.

Staring prices go from under £22,000, but the French manufacture didn’t cut any corners.

The traditional hatchback design with sizable cargo load space also makes this a suitable family car.

It boasts an acceleration speed of 10.4seconds travelling from 0 to 62mph.

The Citroen e-C3 has a range of up to 199miles on full charge, however this is closer to 170miles in reality.

Kia EV3

Moving on the the Kia EV3, rated the best family electric car, drivers can look forward to a whopping maximum range of 370miles on full charge.

There’s also a smaller battery size, which comes in a little bit cheaper, but still offers a respectable 267miles.

It has slightly faster acceleration speeds than the Citroen e-C3, reaching 62mph in 7.5 seconds.

The EV also holds a larger cargo volume, a feature that makes this model great for road-trips – or even the school run if your little ones pack in plenty of activities.

Buyers can expect a steeper price tag to come with the sleek design and high performance.

They usually hit the market at around £42,000 brand new.

BMW i5

Meanwhile, the BMW i5 has been awarded best premium EV.

Those with range anxiety have no need to fear with 350miles available on full charge.

It comes in a Sedan or Wagon style depending on preference.

Both provide four-wheel and rear-wheel drive, as well as 340hp.

The luxury car will set drivers back between £67,000 to £70,000.

Renault Master E-Tech

This model was crowned best electric van in the line up.

It offers around 285miles on the clock, 1,625kg usable cargo capacity and two powertrains – electric or diesel.

The EV has been designed with an innovative breaking system and can recover 80 per cent of it’s driving range in just 38 minutes.

Prices start from around £42,000 but can climb to £46,000.

Overall it was the Kia EV3 which claimed the top prize – DrivingElectric Car of the Year.

This comes as we took a look at the 10 best cheap EV’s to buy second hand.

While new electric cars are still fairly expensive, although the Dacia Spring is currently the UK’s cheapest new EV at just £14,995, they can be picked up at a pinch on the used car market.

According to Car Magazine, that’s due to the steep depreciation of EVs partly brought about by fleets and businesses buying them up and then swapping the models every few years.

To this end, the car experts picked out their 10 best used EV options that can currently be found, from a bargain Hyundai through to a top-of-the-range Porsche tourer.
