AUNT Bessie’s has launched a new game changer teatime potato dish that’s a hybrid of roasties and chips.

The famous frozen food brand’s Roast Potato chips have landed on supermarket shelves to shopper fanfare.

Foodies can pick up the 750g pack of carby goodness from Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Ocado.

The four retailers are selling it for £3.50, £3.70, £3.75 and £3.75, respectively, making Iceland the cheapest place to get the bag.

Shoppers have been quick to share their glee after finding out Aunt Bessie’s has launched the spin on a Sunday roast staple.

Posting on Facebook, one said: “We’ve been having these for weeks. They are amazing!”

Another, who is evidently yet to try the roasties, chipped in: “They look immense.”

A third commented: “These are the best ever yum.”

According to Iceland’s website, the roast chips can be oven cooked as well as air fried, from frozen.

We have asked Aunt Bessie’s when they launched in the UK and if they are a permanent addition to shelves and will update this story when we’ve heard back.

It comes just less than two months after McCain launched a “game-changing” teatime potato dish, combining crisps and chips.

The rival frozen food maker unveiled the “Vibes” hot snacks at the start of the year.

The product is flavoured with typical seasonings you would get in crisps such as Salt & Vinegar as well as Firecracker Chilli.

Shoppers were quick to take to social media after spotting the product on sale at Iceland.

Some were excited, commenting that they had tried the product, and it tasted “good” but others were not so impressed.

“These are made to share…made for me more like,” joked one.

Meanwhile a third said: “I wish I had seen these today when shopping.”

Mark Hodge, head of marketing for McCain’s, said the product was “game-changing”, according to reports in The Grocer.

How to save money on roast potatoes

Plenty of supermarkets sell “wonky” veg, which are misshapen or dented, at discounted prices.

Morrisons, Aldi and Tesco sell batches of the imperfect vegetables.

You may also be able to get giant boxes of wonky veg from your favourite supermarket too.

Lidl sells Too Good to Go Waste boxes which come packed with 5kg of fruit and veg for just £1.50.

Keep your eyes peeled for yellow, orange or red sticker bargains as well, as you can get some major discounts on veg.

We previously revealed the best times to shop for yellow sticker bargains depending on the supermarket.

Buy fruit and veg in season too – this can save extra money compared to buying it when it’s not.
