Sainsbury’s slashes price of iconic retro Cadbury chocolate tin that’s perfect for Mother’s Day to just £3
SAINSBURY’S has slashed the price of its iconic retro Cadbury chocolate tin to just £3.
The sweet treat selections were spotted in stores at the discounted rate ahead of Mother’s Day later this month.
A keen-eyed shopper discovered the price of Cadbury Dairy Milk Mixed Chunks Tin had been reduced from its usual £4 to just £3 at a Sainsbury’s store in north London.
The 25 per cent reduction makes the 380g tubs an excellent gift choice ahead of Mother’s Day on March 30.
Each selection tin, which is advertised as “for someone special”, contains individually wrapped chunks of classic Dairy Milk as well as the whole nut and caramel versions.
One happy shopper reported on Hotukdeals that they had spotted the deal in the Sainsbury’s Harringay superstore.
They said: “Lots of stock in Sainsbury’s Harringay superstore.
“No idea of availability elsewhere.”
Some readers may remember that Cadbury used to sell selection boxes in tins rather than in the plastic tubs usually seen on supermarket shelves now.
One Facebook user on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group said: “I can remember when they first went on sale, they were a tenner.”
Another commented: “I need some of these.”
The chocolate selection is great for any sweet-toothed shoppers out there and it a bargain at just £3.
A similar but far larger version (720g) of the tin is available at Ocado for £10 but does not offer as great a value as the Sainsbury’s deal.
This is because it works out to costing £1.39 per 100g of chocolate for the larger tub, versus just 79p per 100g for the 380g selection.
You do however get slightly different chocolates in the larger box, with Dairy Milk original and whole nut still remaining while the caramel is substituted for both White Chocolate and Caramilk.

A quick search with the Google Shopping/Product tab can bring up what some retailers are selling items for too.
It’s worth going direct to discounters’ websites like B&M and Home Bargains too as they often have cheap chocs on sale.
EASTER CHOCOLATE DISCOUNTS
This comes after a major supermarket slashed the price of its Cadbury Easter eggs to just £2.99.
Asda’s new deal gives customers the opportunity to mix and match any four eggs for just £11.96.
Cadbury Crunchie, Creme Egg, Caramel, Caramilk and Twirl are all up for grabs.
It’s not just Cadbury treats though, there are a mixture of Nestle, Thorntons, Rowntree’s and Mars favourites thrown in for good measure.
As part of Asda’s deal, the Creme Egg Easter egg is just £2.99 if purchased in the mix and match deal.
In comparison, Aldi is selling the same egg for the noticeably higher price of £3.45.
