BGT Golden Buzzer act Stacey Leadbeatter reveals she’s engaged – as she promises next performance is ‘bigger and better’
BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Stacey Leadbeatter has double the reason to celebrate after her Golden Buzzer triumph.
The supermarket worker, 29, wowed both the live audience and the ITV show panel with her rendition of Run, originally by Snow Patrol.
And off-screen, she has got engaged to her childhood pal Richard.
With the audience practically demanding a Britain’s Got Talent judge press the Golden Buzzer for her, KSI was the one to do the honours.
His actions rewarded the Leeds-based mum-of-one, taking her straight through to the semi-finals.
On Monday’s Lorraine show, the singing sensation – who has shared her vocal talents since the age of five – told how “overwhelmed” she felt after the pass to the next round.
Continuing to chat about the show, she continued to tell how she performed a gig in front of 50 people and karaoke in a pub as her only live singing experience.
Stacey didn’t give much away, yet vowed the song she has planned for the next stage is “bigger and better.”
Yet when host Lorraine Kelly quizzed how that was possible Stacey, who was joined by her mum Susan, stayed coy.
She insisted: “All I am going to say is I’m going to go bigger and better.”
Talking about where she watched Saturday’s episode, she said: “I was at home with my fiance.”
As a picture of the lovebirds flashed on-screen, Lorraine interjected: “Of course, because you’ve just got engaged.
“Double congratulations, that’s fantastic. It’s all happening isn’t it?”
Referring to her proposal by her childhood friend Richard, Stacey replied: “Everything happened at once, it was so surreal.
“It’s like an outer body experience.”
BGT BUZZER
During her amazing BGT performance this weekend Stacey, who cooks chickens in a supermarket for a living, wowed the entire panel.
Britain's Got Talent Judges
The ITV talent show wouldn't be the same without the four charismatic judges who put the contestants through their paces.
Simon Cowell is the staple of Britain’s Got Talent and resumes his role as head judge. The mogul is one of the most iconic figures in music and is responsible for offsetting the careers of many performers around the world.
Amanda Holden has been a judge on Britain’s Got Talent since it first started in 2007. The sexy star is a firm fixture on the judging panel, which has helped her to become a household name.
Alesha Dixon is back to judge the new series of Britain’s Got Talent. The TV star joined the panel back in 2012 and quickly became a fan favourite.
Bruno Tonioli makes up the fab four. After leaving Strictly, he decided to move over to ITV and is the newest BGT judge after replacing David Walliams.
Simon Cowell told her she had “nailed it” before KSI swooped in for the Golden Buzzer.
His move prompted hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donelly to burst onto the stage to celebrate.
It came after The Sun revealed how YouTube star KSI would be judging BGT contestants during the auditions.
The online sensation talked about his excitement to be joining the fan-favourite show.
He said: “I’m so excited to be a guest judge for BGT.
“When I got the call up, I couldn’t believe it. I remember watching old BGT episodes and going from being amazed to laughing my a**e off.
“I’m buzzing to see all the fresh new talent, and I’ll be sure to leave a mark.”
HEALTH CONDITION
Meanwhile, Stacey’s health condition was recently revealed.
Stacey revealed she had to retrain her voice as a result of having a speech impediment.
She admitted it had been a “extremely hard” journey to find her voice again.
She said: “I have a video of me singing from four or five years ago and you couldn’t actually understand properly what I was singing due to the severity of speech impediments.
“So during lockdown I used to sit through like adult speech therapy sessions on YouTube and then I’d introduced it into my singing.”
Stacey said she has to regularly do exercises a few times a week, otherwise she will revert back to how she was.
She then admitted she was bullied at school because of her speech problems.
She said: “In high school I used to stutter a bit and people would mimic me.
“Children unfortunately sometimes can be a bit harsh and I wasn’t the popular girl at school.”
