Coronation Street’s Sam Aston takes swipe at Dancing on Ice co-star in emotional final show
CORONATION Street’s Sam Aston took a cheeky swipe at Dancing on Ice judge Christopher Dean in tonight’s emotional final show.
The soap star, who plays Chesney Brown on the cobbles, admitted he hasn’t always been the most confident and taking part on the ITV show was a chance to not hide behind a character.
But some fans will remember when Sam first took to the ice, panelist and judge Chris made an accidental slip up and called Sam his name on Coronation Street.
In a touching VT, Sam reflected on his journey and said: “I remember being so nervous and it was funny because of this whole thing of doing this journey as Sam not Chesney.
“I stepped on the ice and the first thing that came out of Chris’ mouth was ‘alright Chesney’.”
He added: “All these weeks and hard work, I’ve achieved something as Sam. Sometimes confidence hasn’t always been my strong point.
“So when you get given a character, you can kind of mask that. As the weeks go on, I’ve found confidence in myself.
“If you just push yourself and go for something, you never know what you can achieve.
Torvill and Dean choreographed their final dance which had a special Pink Panther theme.
The soap star has blossomed since the first show and left the audience tickled pink.
It’s another full house from the judges for ‘Sam the skater man’.
Oti branded the dance “so smooth”.
Elsewhere, Anton Ferdinand and Michaela Strachan also took to the ice for their final performances.
The wildlife presenter will be the first female to be crowned champion since 2013.
She told fans on social media: “It’s the final! So excited. Doing a big showbiz number Don’t Rain On My Parade with 7 pro skaters. Such fun. I even have a train called The Flying Strachan!
“Then 2/3 finalists get voted by public to do the Bolero. Then another vote to decide the winner.
“So it totally relies on the public vote. So please support me and @markhanretty.”
