‘SNL’: Pete Davidson Rallies Confused ICE Troops After Minnesota Violence: ‘We Need to Lower the Temperature’ | Video
Pete Davidson made his surprise “Saturday Night Live” return in tonight’s cold open as Trump-appointed Border Czar Tom Homan, who tried quizzing a group of confused ICE agents on how they could “lower the temperature” in Minnesota.
Davidson’s Homan kicked off “SNL’s” 1,000th episode by explaining his sudden arrival in Minneapolis. “I’m sure a lot of you are wondering why [Border Patrol Commander] Greg Bovino, the last guy, was dismissed,” he noted. “It wasn’t because he did a bad job or publicly lied about the shooting of an American citizen or even, uh oh, dressed like a Nazi! It was that he was filmed doing these things.”
“The president no-likey like that,” Davidson’s Homan remarked. “So I’m here now, and we need to tighten up.” When he then asked the ICE agents what they were even meant to be looking for in Minneapolis in the first place, one of them responded, “Epstein Files!”
“No! No, we actually just released those to distract from this, which is ironic, because we did this to distract from those,” Davidson’s panicked Homan responded. Shifting focus, he decided to ask the gathered ICE agents when the right time to use force is. “Right away,” one replied. “No! Think of the opposite,” Davidson’s Homan countered, only for another to guess, “Preemptively?”
“Also no!” the Border Czar said. “It’s kind of a trick question, because we actually don’t want to use force. Remember, the job ultimately is about keeping America safe from… what?” The leading question prompted one ICE agent (played by “SNL” star James Austin Johnson) to guess, “This could be wrong, but… Don Lemon?,” in reference to the former CNN anchor’s arrest Friday.

It did not take long for the clueless ICE agents gathered to push Davidson’s Border Czar to his breaking point. “Look, I’m Tom Homan, okay? I’m the separating-families-at-the-border guy! I’m the on-film-taking-a-$50,000-bribe guy, and you all are making me look like the upstanding, reasonable adult in the room!” he incredulously observed. “That’s crazy!”
“Let’s recap. What have we learned today?” Davidson’s Homan later asked, as the ICE meeting neared its conclusion. “This could be wrong, but you hired a bunch of angry, aggressive guys, gave us guns and didn’t train us,” Johnson’s ICE agent offered. “So this is maybe what you wanted to happen?”
“Oh, come on, man! Don’t start thinking now!” Davidson’s Homan responded. “Look, the situation out there has been rough, and we need to lower the temperature. So let’s get out there. Let’s show some restraint. Let’s do our job without violating anyone’s rights as Americans. Can you do that?”
“No,” one ICE agent swiftly replied. “Well, I had to ask,” Davidson’s deflated Border Czar concluded. “Maybe just try not to get filmed.”
