Water polo has taken the Paris Olympics by storm, thanks in no small part to some excitement surrounding the US women's team, who are vying for their fourth consecutive gold medal this year. Below, we've outlined everything you need to know when it comes to where to watch Olympic water polo, whether you're hoping to watch the men's or women's semifinal matches.
The US women's national team has found a new hype man and official sponsor in rapper and Olympics enthusiast Flavor Flav, who has signed a sponsorship deal with the USA Water Polo teams. His interest peaked after learning that many of the women's team members were hustling at multiple other jobs to make ends meet while practicing, according to an interview he gave to NBC Olympics. The team has gained traction online, and First Lady Jill Biden even attended one of the preliminary round matches in Paris.
The women's team has advanced to the semifinals, where they'll face off against Australia on Thursday. Spain narrowly beat out the Netherlands in their semi-final match earlier in the day, so the former will advance to the women's gold medal match. On Friday, the men's teams will begin competing to determine the 5th and 8th place rankings, as well as which teams will push through to the gold medal match this weekend. The men's semifinals include Serbia vs. United States and Hungary vs. Croatia match-ups.
