Quality Inspector
Duties
- At the direction of the Quality Manager, inspects and approves or rejects items manufactured by Thomson such as parts going out for processing, gages and tooling from the tool room, and items received from vendors such as raw material, castings and forgings.
- First Article Inspection and In-process line inspection of parts manufactured by Thomson as well as Final Inspection of parts going to outside processing.
- Preliminary inspection of machined parts prior to outside processing.
- Receiving Inspection of raw materials, castings and forgings:
- Rockwell Hardness checks on raw material.
- Review and acceptance of certifications for raw material.
- Receiving inspection of standard hardware for assemblies.
- Inspection of gages and tooling from the Tool Room.
- Gage calibration.
- Inspection of parts received from suppliers, manufactured for Thomson, including First Article Inspection.
- Writing of “Resection Tags” for discrepant parts from Thomson and suppliers.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift 40 pounds, stand on feet for an extended period of time, and able to walk to all areas of the facility.
- Work with Purchasing, Engineering and Production Control to complete inspections so that finished product may be shipped.
- Train inspectors, machine operators, and others in the proper use and calibration of gages, fixtures, and tooling.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional shop environment. This role routinely uses standard shop equipment and requires care and precision while on the shop floor.
Requirements:
- Must have previous training in Quality and at least 2 years of working experience and demonstrated skills in Quality and specifically aerospace quality procedures Must be able to communicate effectively with management, vendors, and coworkers
- Must possess good organizational ability, in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Must conduct oneself in a professional manner, maintain confidentiality and work competently under minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and incorporate skills relative to Company software, office equipment and position.
