It seems only appropriate while I am waiting for a computer fix-it person to think about the good old days when typewriters were high tech and knowing how to put a ribbon in one was the main challenge.

Joanne Murtagh, a community volunteer who was dedicated to keeping family and friendship ties strong, died Friday in her Ottawa Hills home. She was 90.

Under Construction: Chabad House in Sylvania Township

Construction moves swiftly on the 9,758-square-foot Chabad House of Toledo at 2728 King Rd. When finished, the $1.8 million building will double the size of the previous community center that Chabad House occupied on the 1.62-acre site during the last two years. Romanko Building Co. Ltd. is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be completed next spring.
