TRIBAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: Kone all class, Butland unbeatable
A handful of new faces feature in tribalfootball.com's latest edition of team of the week.
Everton striker Arouna Kone notched a hat-trick in a big win for the Toffees, while Leicester midfielder Riyad Mahrez was a standout performer as he scored a brace to move the Foxes into third on the Premier League table.
Stoke shot-stopper Jack Butland made it impossible to leave him out following his sensational performance against Newcastle, while defenders who can score goals are always welcome in our best XI.
Here is the team of the week, in a 3-4-3 formation:
Tribal Team of the Week – 11
Goalkeeper
Jack Butland - Stoke
Butland pulled off a string of stunning saves to keep Newcastle United scoreless in their 0-0 draw with Stoke City and was the primary reason the Potters were able to take a point from the fixture. Butland has now made more saves (46) than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.
Defenders
Hector Bellerin – Arsenal
Bellerin was a big reason the Gunners were able to keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Swansea, with two crucial goal-saving interventions: one to block Bafetimbi Gomis when he appeared to have only the goalkeeper to beat, and another desperate sliding tackle to deny Andre Ayew.
Nicolas Otamendi – Manchester City
Otamendi backed-up his man-of-the-match performance in last week's Manchester Derby with another strong showing in the heart of City's defence in their 2-1 win over Norwich City. Also scored the opening goal for the Citizens with a powerful header.
Laurent Koscielny – Arsenal
Koscielny did a superb job of marshalling the Gunners' backline to another clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Swansea. The Arsenal centre-half also scored a headed goal from a set-piece for the second consecutive week.
Midfielders
Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City
Mahrez scored a second-half brace to spearhead Leicester's come-from-behind win over West Bromwich Albion. Mahrez's two goals in seven minutes took his tally for the season to seven in 10 Premier League appearances.
Mesut Ozil – Arsenal
Ozil starred in his attacking midfield role in the Gunners' 3-0 win over Swansea. The German World Cup winner pulled the strings for the Arsenal attack and set-up two goals, to take him to the top of the Premier League assists chart with nine for the season.
Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool
Coutinho scored a goal either side of half-time as Liverpool defeated Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian showed all of his class and technical ability with two well taken goals that involved a series of deft touches and and body contorting jinks.
Gerard Deulofeu – Everton
Deulofeu scored Everton's opening goal and provided the assist for two others in their 6-2 win over Sunderland at Goodison Park.
Forwards
Arouna Kone – Everton
Kone scored a hat-trick and secured a new contract at Goodison Park by making his 35th appearance for the Toffees in Everton's 6-2 demolition of Sunderland. Caused major problems with his pace and power and his finishing was flawless.
Jamie Vardy – Leicester City
Vardy extended his incredible goal-scoring run to eight Premier League games by scoring Leicester's third goal in their 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.
Odion Ighalo – Watford
Ighalo scored either side of half-time to help the Hornets to a 2-0 win over high-flying West Ham at Vicarage Road. The Nigerian finished well from two crosses to notch his sixth and seventh goals of the Premier League season.
