Man Utd legend Yorke: Rooney benching wrong move

Manchester United hero Dwight Yorke has questioned Louis van Gaal's decision to bench Wayne Rooney for defeat at Stoke City.

Yorke thought the decision was the latest in a long line questionable ones from the United boss.

"It was painful watching. They had no sparkle and were short in every department," he said.

"I just think the timing of leaving out Wazza (Rooney) was wrong. Leaving out your captain is a big call. It went against him and it was the wrong move."
