There’s something about fall that just elicits transformation. From cooler weather to the warm, rich colors of autumn to the latest fashion trends, the new season brings a sense of renewal. And while last year, the pandemic steered most people away from having their hair done, this year, women are ready for a fresh look. With luxury fashion and runway styles stealing the spotlight as fall fashion week events have finally resumed, even their haircuts and colors are dictating the trends in the hair industry.
Just last month, Vogue shared some of the most popular hair color trends that are perfect for fall. From warm espresso browns to soft auburn to honey wheat blonde and shades of gold, trends reveal that many are looking to add depth and dimension to their color. When attempting to pull off a specific shade or color in order to achieve that chic fall fresh look, it can be difficult to know where to go and who to trust. But with more than 17 years of experience to his name, Los Angeles based stylist and colorist Jason Hermiz has become the go-to for many Angelenos looking to level up their hair styles and color.
“This time of year is always so fun as a colorist because I get to really transform a person’s look,” Hermiz says. “This season I’ve seen a lot of clients want to warm up their color, whether blonde or brunette. I love finding ways to incorporate auburns, golds, and warm rich brown tones during the fall season.”
As one of the lead stylists at the trendy Sunset Boulevard salon, Martinez-Samuel, Hermiz clientele ranges from the everyday client to celebrities and actors. While he’s known for his skills as a colorist, specializing in highlights and balayage, he’s also perfected the art of a men’s cut, using a meticulous scissor-over-comb technique that ensures a chic, just-left-the-salon look, even weeks after the cut. After spending years in an apprenticeship, learning across New York, Detroit, Chicago, and Toronto, Hermiz’s techniques for both color and cuts remain ahead of the trends, giving clientele not just a chic new do, but a sense of confidence that they carry with them for the months to come.
So as the weather begins to turn and summer fades, after months of beach hair and sweaty ponytails and buns, your hair might be in need of a fresh cut and color—just in time for fall. Be sure to check out Jason at Martinez-Samuel Salon.
