Vogue World: Hollywood Was a Movie

Us normies aren’t the only ones who like to channel our favorite films around Halloween. The fourth annual Vogue World was Hollywood themed, with celebrities and models highlighting the intersection of fashion and cinema as they strutted down a runway set up on the Paramount lot. The entire October 26 event — which featured nods to Black Panther, the late Diane Keaton, and more — was meant to channel a film shoot; Baz Luhrmann was even there to oversee a director’s cut. Below, all the highlights.

Nicole Kidman threw it back to Old Hollywood

A newly single Kidman opened the show with a backstage rendition of “Put the Blame on Mame,” originally performed by Rita Hayworth in the 1946 noir Gilda. She then walked out onto the runway in a custom Chanel look that emulated an outfit worn by Hayworth’s character in the classic film.

While we wait for Black Panther 3

Teyana Taylor and Danai Gurira brought Wakanda to the runway in original Dora Milaje costumes designed by Ruth E. Carter for the first Black Panther film. Angela Bassett later showed up to reprise her role as Queen Ramonda.

A tale of two Scissorhands

Model Anok Yai and The Gilded Age star Louisa Jacobson both wore looks inspired by the main character from Tim Burton’s 1990 film.

Kendall Jenner experienced the life of a showgirl

She wore the top hat and sparkly bodysuit originally worn by Nicole Kidman’s Satine in Moulin Rouge!

Julia Garner let them eat cake

Garner skipped down the runway in a re-creation of one of the looks from Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette.

Ayo Edebiri’s runway debut

And if her Matthieu Blazy outfit looks familiar, it’s because it’s the same one she wore on the cover of Vogue’s November issue.

A tribute to Diane Keaton

As model Betsy Gaghan walked the runway in a look inspired by the late Diane Keaton’s Oscar-winning role in Annie Hall, Keaton’s cover of “Seems Like Old Times” from the film played over the speakers.

Gracie Abrams sang her truth

Performing her own song “That’s So True” (and also Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move”).

Hunter Schafer kept the doctor away

Snacking on an apple as she strutted down the runway in a costume originally created for Tilda Swinton in Sally Potter’s 1992 drama, Orlando.

Doja Cat channeled Tina Turner

C’est la Vie. She wore a chain-mail bodysuit that nodded to Turner’s role in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome as she performed “Gorgeous” from her latest album.

Baz Luhrmann wrapped things up

The director twirled Nicole Kidman down the runway at the close of the show before grabbing a mic and declaring, “Cast and crew, that is a wrap!”
