Ariana Grande Begs Nation of Brazil to ‘Not Wish Danger’ Upon Her
Like a comet pulled from orbit, Ariana Grande was not able to fly to São Paulo for the world premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 4, and she is apparently very, very scared of the fan response. In an Instagram Story addressed to “Brazil,” Glinda herself explained that there was a “safety issue” on her plane delaying her flight, so she couldn’t make it in time.
“My team and Universal have tried every single thing possible to fix this. We’ve searched every other flight, overnight, early morning, connecting flights, commercial and also private options and absolutely nothing was available or possible that would get us there in time,” she wrote. “I am so heartbroken that I’m unable to be there with you all. We sincerely tried everything we could and I apologize from the bottom of my heart.”
She had to update her Story later today with another message, this one more of a plea. It began with the terrified words “Please don’t wish danger on us.” In this new message, she reiterates her disappointment and her love of Brazil and says a second time, “Please, please do not wish danger on us or assume that we didn’t try.” I also must emphasize that no one, from anywhere, should “wish danger” on anyone! No danger-wishing! Stop it!
Grande also used her IG Story to explain why she had to cut her flight so close to the premiere, saying, “I wrapped another film on the 31st and I worked all day the 1st and the 2nd as well, just the same as Jonny, Cyn and Jon have been working.” Based on a wrap post she made on October 31, the film Grande’s referring to making is Focker In-Law, which filmed in New York.
The Brazil Wicked: For Good screening kicks off a global rollout for the sequel that will be followed by regional premieres in Paris, London, Singapore, and New York with “Sexiest Man Alive” “Jonny” (Bailey), “Cyn” (-thia Erivo), and Jon M. Chu all scheduled to appear along with Grande. Maybe, just to be safe, they should forego the PJs and travel by bubble, broom, or balloon.
