Trump’s 25 percent tariff on Mexico and Canada starts on Saturday
The words “fast and furious” come to mind in regard to the tariff President Trump is about to levy onto Mexico and Canada. The warning shot was fired, but few likely expected it to hit its mark quite as soon as Saturday.
“Look, Mexico and Canada have never been good to us on trade,” Trump told The Hill. “They’ve treated us very unfairly on trade, and we will be able to make that up very quickly because we don’t need the products that they have.”
Other reasons he gave for the tariff being imposed on each country included illegal immigrants that have flooded over the U.S. border, fentanyl that has flowed into the United States, and the U.S. trade deficit.
He’s debating whether or not he will include oil in the list of items included in the tariff.
BREAKING: President Trump officially announces 25% tariffs on both Mexico and Canada.
