Tucker Carlson calls out ‘2 of the sins that are totally ignored’ in U.S.
Daily Caller News Foundation co-founder Tucker Carlson on Friday called out the two “sins” of violence and greed that are “ignored” in America and said there’s a need to reframe the argument.
The Blaze’s Jason Whitlock, sitting next to Carlson, said he believes the legacy media has controlled the narrative for Americans and urged them to “say the most uncomfortable truths.”
“Well, that’s right, and if you’ve ever had your money taken from you in a gypsy three-card monte scam, and I have, I’ll just be honest, then you know the scam works by misdirection,” Carlson said. “You’re looking at one thing when the real action’s happening outside the frame. So you have to wonder, racism is a sin, clearly. Cruelty to other people, judgment of other people, those are sins, but they’re not the only sins. So you have to wonder why the emphasis on those sins, which are actually not really profound in this country.”
“Two of the sins that are totally ignored that I do think are kind of wrecking the country are violence and greed, and those are never mentioned, ever,” Carlson added. “Washington worships violence. The majority of the discretionary federal budget goes to violence, one trillion dollars, when, actually, we’re not in danger of being invaded. What is this? Where is that money going, actually? The other thing is greed, which is closely related to it.”
During his 2024 campaign, President Donald Trump said he would revive the U.S. economy to help Americans and eliminate wasteful federal spending. He later created the Department of Government Efficiency, which created a backlash among Democrats after it uncovered billions of taxpayer dollars wasted in programs like the U.S. Agency for International Development.

“When the mafia charged 20% interest, they went to jail under RICO statutes for loan sharking. Well, Citibank charges, what, 30% on a credit card, and it’s totally fine, and you can’t just charge it in bankruptcy, thanks to Joe Biden. So if I had to pick a villain, I think credit card companies cause a lot more misery than the KKK, among people I know,” Carlson said.
Carlson went on to describe the destruction he’s seen caused by “high interest credit cards.”
“The second problem we have is that we allow the worst people in the world to occupy the moral high ground and stay there.”
Carlson said he remembered visiting historic Selma, Ala. during college and said he was shocked at the city’s current poverty levels.
“They’re really suffering in poverty and disorder and crime. How are people in D.C. allowed to brag about Selma, Alabama when Selma, Alabama looks like this? And it’s all black! What about the actual black people who live in Selma? No one cares about them!” Carlson said of the town famous for civil rights marches.
“The name of their town has been hijacked. It’s almost copyrighted at this point. Have you been to Selma in the last 60 years? Do you have some obligation to the people who live there? I think you do. You’ve profited from talking about them. You’ve done squat to help them. You’re kind of a villain, aren’t you, actually? You are!”
According to 2024 Census data, Selma’s median household income between 2019 and 2023 was $55,839, with an estimated poverty rate of 19.8%. In 2018, Alabama ranked as the sixth poorest state in the U.S. Selma was listed as the ninth poorest city in the country, WAKA8 reported.
“How are they allowed, people who don’t care at all about the actual human consequences of their policies, how do they get to brag about what great people they are?” Carlson asked. “They should not be allowed to! So maybe the first thing we need to do, if we’re going to contend with people like that and reframe the conversation along lines that actually help people, actual people, not some abstract idea of people, but living people who you can, again, smell like they’re right there.”
“The first thing we need to do is not accept their terms, and their terms are always the same. ‘I’m the good guy. You’re the bad guy.’ No! No, you’re not! You’re a bad guy, and I’m not going to get bossed around by you anymore, ever,” Carlson said.
