‘Graveyard dead’: Sheriff warns ‘No Kings’ protesters to behave
Brevard County, Florida, Sheriff Wayne Ivey warned any left-wing rioters on Thursday that they will end up “graveyard dead” if they assault any law enforcement officers.
“No Kings” protests are set to take place across the U.S. on Saturday to oppose President Donald Trump, causing worry among law enforcement about potential violence. Ahead of the protests, Ivey stated that Brevard County will not tolerate any such behavior that hurts law enforcement or causes any destruction.
“I’m gonna break it down for you, alright, and if somebody wants to know what I mean by turn violent,” Ivey said. “This is what I mean. If you resist lawful orders, you’re going to jail. Let me be very clear about that. If you block an intersection or a roadway in Brevard County, you are going to jail. If you flee arrest, you’re gonna go to jail tired because we are going to run you down and put you in jail. If you try to mob rule a car in Brevard County, gathering around it, refusing to let the driver leave in our county, you’re gonna get run over and dragged across the street.”
“If you spit on us, you are going to the hospital and then to jail. If you hit one of us, you’re going to the hospital and jail and likely will get bitten by one of our big, beautiful dogs we have here. If you throw a brick, a firebomb, or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at. Because we will kill you, graveyard dead,” Ivey continued. “We’re not going to play.”
WATCH:
Ivey’s warnings come in response to the riots that have erupted in Los Angeles, California, since Friday. Rioters have burned cars, vandalized property, assaulted police officers and threw Molotov cocktails and fireworks in retaliation against the ICE raids where over 100 illegal immigrants convicted of heinous crimes were arrested.
Florida officials have warned that anyone who attempts to riot in the state will face arrest or even be killed if they commit any form of violence as threats of anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) riots loom.
“No Kings,” an anti-Trump organization is planning a “day of defiance” against the Trump administration by taking to streets across the U.S.,according to its website. They said they are “taking action” to “reject authoritarianism” and “show what democracy really looks like.”
In Los Angeles, Emiliano Garduno-Galvez, a Mexican national who entered the U.S. illegally, will be charged with murder in connection to the Molotov cocktail he threw toward ICE agents on Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed on Tuesday. Rioters further threw rocks at Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents as they attempted to leave Paramount, California, causing one agent to suffer from a minor incarceration to his hand after a rock broke through the windshield, Fox News’ Bill Melugin reported on Saturday.
President Donald Trump deployed at least 2,000 National Guard troops and around 700 U.S. Marines to quell the violence that is taking place in Los Angeles. The state of California filed a lawsuit against Trump’s action, though a federal judge temporarily rejected the state’s bid in a Tuesday ruling.
Rioters in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles tagged the walls with anti-Trump and anti-ICE rhetoric, writing things like “F— ICE, Trumps A Lame.”
Local stores and businesses also boarded up the windows to prevent further loitering, which had taken place earlier in the week.
