Mayweather vs McGregor weigh-in results: Fighters set for PPV main event
Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are set.
Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are set for tomorrow night’s Showtime pay-per-view, as both fighters made weight, though with some notable difference between them.
McGregor weighed in at 153 pounds, one pound shy of the fight’s limit, with Mayweather coming in at a lean 149½, closer to welterweight than to the junior middleweight limit, and it’s expected he’ll be significantly outweighed tomorrow night for the fight, as well.
“That’s the worst shape I’ve ever seen him in. He looks blown out, I’m gonna blow through him,” McGregor said. “I’m in peak physical condition. I put in the work. I’m ready.”
McGregor said he figures he’ll weigh close to 170 pounds on fight night.
“I’ll stomp my foot right in the center of that ring. I won’t go nowhere other than the center of that ring,” he added, saying of Mayweather, “I see a man afraid. We’ll see tomorrow.”
A calm Mayweather (49-0, 26 KO) was quiet during the staredown, where McGregor yelled. “I’ve been here before. I know what it takes when it’s a fight of this magnitude. Tomorrow, it comes down to the fighters.”
Asked about his low weight, he said, “Weight doesn’t win fights. Fighting wins fights.” He also said the fight “won’t go the distance.”
