READING have launched an investigation into two “incidents of discriminatory abuse” during their FA Cup draw with Cardiff.
Midway through the first half, an announcement was made over the public address system at the Madejski Stadium saying “racist and homophobic chanting from the away fans must cease immediately”.

Somewhat bizarrely, the announcer made the statement while the Royals were attacking the Cardiff goal – and clearly identified the away fans.
While it was not clear over what the incidents were, Reading released a statement labelling them as “wholly unacceptable”.
The statement said: “Two isolated but wholly unacceptable incidents of discriminatory abuse were reported by a matchday steward in the South Stand during the first half of our FA Cup Fourth Round match against Cardiff City this afternoon. These incidents will be fully investigated by the club.
“At Reading FC we are committed to ensuring that the matchday environment here provides a positive experience for all.
“Discrimination of any form is not ok and all supporters who visit Madejski Stadium are reminded that instances of discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated.”
It was the second successive weekend that Reading have been involved in a similar incident after claims during their match at Millwall.
Meanwhile, Cardiff say they will speak with Reading and the police before making any further comments.
