In the first-ever UFC title fight between former Ultimate Fighter winners, Evans dispatched of Griffin in the third round with a furious ground-and-pound assault. The win boosted Evans’s unbeaten record to 13-0-1 and made him the ninth man to hold the UFC heavyweight title.

Evans retired in 2018. Both he and Griffin are members of the UFC Hall of Fame.
