Max Rohskopf says his team followed his directions exactly, despite coach Robert Drysdale ignoring his pleas to surrender at UFC Vegas 3.
Max Rohskopf is standing up for his manager and coaches after his team, particularly coach Robert Drysdale, were accused of not having his best interests in mind.
Rohskopf (5-1) put in good work against Austin Hubbard (12-4) in the opening round of their short notice fight at UFC Vegas 3 last weekend. In the second round however, Rohskopf got pieced up by Hubbard. His head hung low in between the second and third rounds and he repeatedly told Drysdale he was done. Drysdale protested, insisting his fighter should continue, but Rohskopf repeated nearly a dozen times that he was finished. Ultimately, the referee was informed of Rohskopf’s desire to quit and waved off the fight after speaking with Rohskopf.
“I don’t have anything to say except that all the decisions up to this point right and wrong have been mine and mine only,” Rohskopf told The Body Lock. “My manager and coaches did nothing but listen to me and do everything I’ve asked.”
Rohskopf took the fight on five days notice. Drysdale stood by his decision, saying, “I gave him the mental coach that he needed.”
