CHELSEA chairman Bruce Buck has called Frank Lampard’s first season “very successful” – despite failing to win any trophies.

But having finished fourth in the Premier League in Lampard‘s debut term – which began amidst a transfer ban – Buck revealed he’s content with how 2019-20 panned out.
Buck said: “In the end we think it was a very successful season.
“I think obviously we would have been a little bit happier if we had won the FA Cup.
“But I’m sure the manager and the players were gutted not to lift the trophy.”

And Buck continued by saying Lampard is the right man for the job – and his leadership means it’s an “exciting time for Chelsea”.
He added: “Frank Lampard is a very positive force for Chelsea.
“He’s Chelsea through and through and that continues to show.
“He carries a lot of credibility.
“It’s an exciting time for Chelsea.”

Lampard is claimed to have made Rice his “priority” target – but is set to play him in defence, rather than his preferred defensive midfield.
