Ergashev's next opponent named
Earlier this week we reported that unbeaten Uzbek contender Shohjahon Ergashev (18-0, 16) [Шохжахон Эргашев] would be back in the ring on September 21st, when he fights in Russia. At the time we know the when and the where, but not the who, as in who he would be facing.
Today Ergashev himself shared that his opponent will be Belarusian 30 year old Dzmitry Miliusha (9-3-1, 4).
The world ranked Ergashev has been out of the ring since he stopped Adrian Estrella back on January 17th and has only have around 12 minutes of ring time since his 12 round struggle against Mykal Fox in February 2019, in face 3 of his last 5 bouts have lasted less than a round. Although talented, heavy handed, explosive and exciting Ergashev has been left in the trail of other Uzbek fighters, who have managed to secure tougher and more testing bouts, whilst he has been struggling to secure meaningful competition. This bout is another sign of that, though we'd rather he was busy than sat on the sideline.
Sadly Miliusha doesn't look like he will pose any thing like a test for Ergashev. Despite having a winning record Miliusha has lost his last 3 and most of his wins have come against fighters with losing records. In fact only 2 of his 9 wins have come against fighters with more wins than losses. It should be noted that he's a capable fighter, and in 2018 he pushed Sergey Lubkovich close in a split decision loss, but that's about the best we can say about. He's capable.
The bout will be staged as part of Yuka Boxing's "Knockout Kings V", with other bouts for the show expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
