Kessie agent: ‘Milan need contract up to his standards’
Franck Kessie’s agent denies he offered the midfielder to Inter or any other club, but also warns Milan that ‘an important player needs a contract up to his standards.’
The Ivory Coast international’s current deal is due to expire in June 2022 and there are growing concerns Kessie could be the latest big star to leave Milan as a free agent.
He would be following in the footsteps of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu, and it is the latter’s switch to Inter that prompted reports today of a similar transfer across the city.
“A player of Franck’s calibre does not need to be offered to anyone. In any case, I have never spoken to Inter,” agent George Atangana told Calciomercato.com.
The representative insisted there is more media attention around Kessie than other players in similar circumstances currently at Inter, Marseille, Napoli, Borussia Monchengladbach or many more clubs.
“An important player needs a contract that is up to his standards,” confirmed Atangana, repeating the phrase he used before the Tokyo Olympics.
He was asked specifically if the reports were true that Milan offered €6.5m per season to renew the contract.
“There was a formal offer from the club and a request from the agent, but we are talking about figures a long way off what you are referring to.
“For too long people have been saying things in the wrong way. I am sorry for those who read these stories and believe them to be true.”
Many huge clubs are lining up to take Kessie if he leaves Milan as a free agent, or even prepared to make an offer in January to ensure the Rossoneri don’t lose out entirely on a transfer fee.
These include Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal.
