Could this be the end of the road for Big Ben in Pittsburgh?

Unsurprising to most, we may be watching Ben Roethlisberger play out the final couple of months of his Pittsburgh Steelers career. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the QB in his 18th season in the NFL has told some within the Steelers organization that this could be the end of the road.

The writing has been on the wall for a few seasons now. Since his best statistical season in 2018 when he threw for better than 5,000 yards and 34 TD’s, Big Ben has dealt with injuries and inconsistent play, with the current season being the worst of all. He’s thrown just 14 touchdowns through 10 games this season and his arm strength has notably declined. Injuries within the receiving corps have certainly not helped as top target JuJu Smith-Schuster is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

The Steelers haven’t won since the first weekend of November and find themselves with a 5-5-1 record and at the bottom of the AFC North. It would take somewhat of a miracle for Roethlisberger to win his ninth division title and make good on the Steelers +3000 odds at Tipico Sportsbook to win the AFC North. However, while those divisional odds are long, Pittsburgh has +600 odds to make the playoffs, and a late push here could send Big Ben out with a bang.

If the reports are true and Roethlisberger is done with Pittsburgh after this season, he will leave the organization with two Super Bowl wins (a third still in play) and as the Steelers’ all-time leader in passing yards and touchdown passes.
