A FOOTBALL team dubbed Britain’s worst have celebrated finishing seventh in their  league —  with an open-top bus parade.

Cwm Albion lost all 22 games the season before last — with one 25-0 defeat helping towards a minus 191 goal difference — but have turned it around with help from Harry Redknapp.

Under his guidance, they won seven matches last season, with one injury-time win likened by Harry to his Spurs side beating Inter Milan in the Champions League.

To locals’ bemusement, they did a tour of Swansea after their seventh-place finish in the city’s Senior League Division 4.

And Redknapp, 77, heaped praise on the lads, who include 73-year-old midfielder John Rees  and keeper Jamie MacDonald, who has never kept a clean sheet in ten years.

He said: “It has been an unbelievable season, and I can’t express what a pleasure it’s been to coach such a dedicated, enthusiastic and down-to-earth group of guys. Their work ethic is off the charts.

“If I had to pick one moment that stood out, it’s got to be the injury-time win over Birchgrove Colts.

“I’ve been everywhere, to Real Madrid, Milan, Old Trafford, Anfield and, oh my God, how exciting was that game?

“I was just as excited on that day as when Tottenham beat Milan 1-0 in Milan.”

Cwm Albion were named Britain’s Worst Team by Specsavers after a dismal campaign in 2022-23.

Their 25-0 drubbing to St Thomas Stars FC came a week after a 21-1 hammering by Cwmfelin Press.

In total they let in 200 goals and scored just nine.

After Redknapp came in to assist manager Dan Gill, their fortunes turned around, bagging vital wins and banging in 50 goals.

Dan told how the buzz was now back, with new players desperate to join.

He said: “It’s been fantastic — the season has breathed new life into the club.

“The wins have been amazing and I could hardly believe it when Harry walked in.

“The main thing though is there’s a real buzz around the team, with fresh players reaching out all the time, keen to join.

“It’s the people that make this club.”
