Ardreal Holmes-Hugo Noriega Tops Sept. 12 ‘Big Time Boxing USA’ Show on DAZN from Flint, Mich.
Ardreal Holmes will get a true home game for his next ring outing.
The unbeaten junior middleweight prospect will headline the Sept. 12 edition of Big Time Boxing USA series on DAZN. Holmes will face Hugo Noriega atop a show from Dort Federal Event Center in his hometown of Flint, Michigan.
“There’s nothing like fighting at home,” noted Holmes. “I know on Sept. 12, there will be a raucous crowd rooting me on. When I get my ‘W’ over Hugo Noriega, it will put me just that much closer to my dream of winning a world title.”
Holmes (15-0, 6 knockouts) has fought throughout Michigan, but never in his true hometown.
The 30-year-old southpaw fought his last two bouts in Detroit. The latest was a second-round knockout of Marlon Harrington on Feb. 20 at Wayne State Fieldhouse. That event marked the maiden voyage for Salita Promotions’ Big Time Boxing USA series.
Salita has been instrumental in revitalizing the boxing scene in Detroit and throughout Michigan. His movement to showcase top prospect talent on DAZN has further aided that cause.
“The BIG TIME BOXING series has quickly become the premier developmental platform for young fighters in the U.S.,” said Salita. “Flint is the home of former heavyweight world champion Chris Byrd, Anthony and Andre Dirrell, and, of course, The GWOAT, Claressa Shields.
“We have never seen a crop of young and hungry fighters like the group fighting on Sept. 12. I feel the next U.S. born world champion will come from right here in the Greater Detroit and surrounding areas like Flint.”
Noriega (10-2, 5 KOs) has suffered both career defeats in his past four starts. However, the Miami-based Cuban is coming off an eight-round win over Saul Corral on March 23 in Miami. The bout will mark his first outside the Southeast region.
Also announced for the DAZN show are several in-state prospects:
- Joseph “Sug” Hicks (10-0, 7 KOs) of Grand Rapids, Mich., who faces Ronnie Austion (10-2, 7 KOs);
- Detroit’s undefeated “Hitman 2.0” Da’Velle Smith (8-0, 6 KOs)
- Flints’ Leon Lawson III (15-1, 8 KOs)
- Jaquan McElroy (1-0), Holmes’ younger brother and promoted by Shields;
- Flint natives Chris Thompson (2-0, 2 KOs) and Deandre Savage (5-0, 5 KOs), both of whom currently train in Las Vegas.
