‘He broke my leg’: Watch Tom Aspinall crack Tommy Fury multiple times in ‘challenge’
Tom Aspinall let his pal Tommy Fury know that he may want to think twice about adding MMA training to his regimen.
The longtime friends got together for Aspinall’s “dead leg challenge”, which involves the UFC’s interim heavyweight champion trading leg kicks with a lucky contestant with escalating levels of force until Aspinall’s victim says they’ve had enough.
This time, it was Fury put to the test. Watch video of Aspinall kicking his leg into oblivion below.
Making matters worse for Fury, a British reality TV star and professional boxer, is that he claims the challenge took place following a day of leg exercise, which made Aspinall’s strikes hurt that much worse.
“He broke my leg,” Fury said after taking a stiff kick from Aspinall. “It’s broke.”
To Fury’s credit, he persevered after Aspinall suggested they should stop after he hit Fury with 60 percent of his power and asked that Aspinall go up to 65 percent.
Aspinall delivered, much to Fury’s regret.
“I’m crippled,” Fury said.
Taking 65 percent from Aspinall did put Fury atop the leaderboard of the dead leg challenge, so... congrats?
Afterwards, Aspinall let Fury hold a kick pad in front of his wounded leg so that he could strike with full force. Suffice to say, Fury wasn’t convinced that that the equipment actually provided much protection.
Aspinall—the No. 1 heavyweight in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings—can afford to take his time training and making YouTube videos as he awaits the result of the Nov. 16 UFC 309 main event between undisputed champion Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. As interim champion, Aspinall is entitled to face the winner, but with the possibility that Jones and/or Miocic could retire afterwards, there’s no guarantee as to who or when Aspinall will book his next title fight.
