NFL Week 5 player props: Justin Fields is next in line to victimize the Cowboys defense
The Dallas Cowboys might’ve thought they had it easy the first five weeks of the season when they first saw the 2024 schedule. At least defensively. Games against Derek Carr, Daniel Jones and Justin Fields were supposed to be dream quarterback matchups for a defense as good as theirs was last year.
So much for that.
Carr and the New Orleans Saints beat the brakes off the Cowboys. Daniel Jones and the New York Giants should have beat the Cowboys. And now a looming matchup against Fields doesn’t seem quite as desirable as it might have in the past.
Fields is coming off his second career 300-yard passing game and he’s playing better than Pittsburgh could have expected. Dallas’ defense is 26th in yards allowed and 28th in points. It’s been particularly bad against the run, which is why I like Fields to go over 43.5 rushing yards for one of my favorite props of the week.
I expect Pittsburgh to control this game at the line of scrimmage on both sides, which should allow for a run-heavy game script. That is bad news for the Cowboys, who are now without Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.
Pittsburgh could probably keep the ball on the ground and score all the points they need to beat Dallas, and Fields should be a part of that after he rushed for 55 yards last week. Now let’s get to more of my favorite Week 5 player props, with odds from BetMGM.
Week 4 record: 9-7
