Frank Bannor, the Head of Research at the Danquah Institute, has pointed to greed and not unemployment, as the main driver of people engaging in illegal mining (galamsey) in the country. Speaking on Peace FM rsquo;s Kokrokoo morning show, Bannor challenged the notion that galamsey thrives due to lack of job opportunities, arguing that Ghanaians involved in the practice are motivated by the desire to become rich overnight.
