The La Liga leaders, FC Barcelona, take to the pitch once more on Sunday in an important league showdown against Real Sociedad.

After Real Madrid defeated Osasuna on Saturday 4-0, the pressure will be back on Barcelona to earn three points and retake its nine-point lead in the competition.

In its first year under German manager Hansi Flick, Barcelona has been absolutely exquisite thus far this season, suffering just two defeats in all competitions.

Currently, the Blaugrana sit at the top of La Liga with 33 points in 12 matches and sixth on the Champions League table with nine points in four matches.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Barcelona had a seven-day stretch that most clubs can only dream of, demolishing German giants Bayern Munich 4-1 in Champions League thanks to a magnificent hat trick by Brazilian winger Raphinha, only to follow that up by defeating its biggest rival, Real Madrid, 4-0 in the iconic El Clasico rivalry matchup. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski led the way for Barca against Madrid, scoring two goals in the matchup and just narrowly missing out on two more.

Most recently, Barcelona defeated Crvena zvezda 5-2 in a Champions League matchup. Prior to that, the Blaugrana took down city rival Espanyol 3-1 thanks to a brace by Dani Olmo, who might not be available against Real Sociedad on Sunday due to stomach problems.

Real Sociedad, meanwhile, has been firmly a mid-table club thus far in La Liga, sitting 12th in the standings with 15 points in 12 matches and a 4-3-5 record.
