Cowboys Lose Ninth Straight With Blowout Shutout Loss at Colorado
Oklahoma State's football team gained just 147 total yards, committed four costly turnovers and lost 52-0 to #25 Colorado at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado, on Friday.
It's OSU's worst loss since a 58-0 defeat to Texas Tech in 2000, and ties the school record with the Cowboys' ninth straight loss.
OSU finishes conference play 0-9, their first conference season to lose every game since 1993.
The nine-game Big 12 losing streak is their longest since losing 10 in a row from 1992 to '94.
OSU finishes the season 3-9, their worst record since going 0-10-1 in 1991.
Until their final possession, when they gained 86 yards against Colorado's backup defenders, the Cowboys had gained just 61 total yards.
OSU quarterback Maealiuaki Smith had a rough day, completing just 11 of 29 passes for 70 yards.
Until the final drive, OSU had minus 9 yards rushing and finished with just 70 on the ground.
OSU's Ollie Gordon had just 10 yards rushing on 4 carries.
Colorado quarterback Shadeur Sanders had a huge day in his final game in Boulder, completing 34 of 41 passes for 438 yards and five touchdowns.
Heisman Trophy favorite Travis Hunter had 10 catches for 116 yards and 3 touchdowns, plus an interception.
CU's LaJohntay Wester had 11 catches for 175 yards and two scores.
OSU got the ball to start the game, and on the third snap, Maealiuaki Smith was intercepted by Travis Hunter, who returned it 7 yards to the Cowboys' 24-yard line.
It took CU just three plays to score, with Micah Welch scoring on a one-yard touchdown run to put the Buffaloes up 7-0 with 12:04 left in the first quarter.
The Cowboys gained just nine yards on three plays and had to punt on their next possession.
Colorado then went 65 yards in 11 plays to double their lead.

OSU turned the ball over on the second snap of of their ensuing possession.
Smith passed to Brennan Presley, who had the ball knocked out by Carter Stoutmire and recovered by Shiloh Sanders for the Buffs at the OSU 28-yard line.
Once again, it took Colorado just three plays to convert, with Sanders passing to Travis Hunter for an 11-yard touchdown to make it 21-0 Buffs with 2:09 to play in the first quarter.
Seven straight possessions then ended in punts, four by OSU and three by Colorado.
The Buffaloes got a big offensive play, as Shadeur Sanders passed to Isaiah Hardge for gain of 39 yards to the OSU 10-yard line.
The Cowboys then recorded three straight sacks of Sanders to force a 4th and goal from the 34-yard line.
Sanders threw incomplete on a deep pass to the end zone and OSU took over on downs.
The Cowboys lost nine yards, getting an illegal chop block penalty and had to punt for the fifth straight time.
The two teams traded punts again before the Buffs ran out the final 31 seconds of the first half.
Colorado got the ball to start the second half and the Buffs took just three plays to score, as Sanders passed to Wester on an out route, and he turned and ran 69 yards for a touchdown to put CU up 28-0 with 14:03 to play in the third quarter.
OSU turned the ball over for the third time on their next possession, as Smith fumbled and Chidozie Nwankwo recovered at the OSU 25-yard line.
It took CU four plays to convert, with Sanders passing to Hunter for an 8-yard touchdown to put the Buffs up 35-0 with 10:50 left in the third quarter.
OSU's next possession moved the ball to the CU 43, but Smith threw incomplete and 4th and 1 and the Cowboys turned the ball over on downs.
Colorado appeared to get a touchdown to extend their lead, but CU was called for offensive pass interference.
The Buffs settled for a 33-yard field goal by Alejandro Mata to make it 38-0 with 4:31 to play in the third quarter.
After forcing an OSU punt, Colorado moved into scoring range, but on the final play of the third quarter, Sanders had a pass tipped and it was intercepted on a diving play by Jeff Roberson at the Cowboys' 8-yard line.
On the second play of the fourth quarter, Smith was intercepted by D.J. McKinney, and returned 14 yards for a touchdown to make it 45-0 with 14:25 to play.
Alan Bowman came in to play quarterback on the next OSU drive, but threw two incompletions and was sacked and the Cowboys lost six yards and had to punt.
Colorado then went 69 yards in six plays to add to their lead.
Sanders passed to Hunter for a gain of 31 yards, then to Hunter, who made a leaping catch in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown to make it 52-0 Buffs with 11:05 remaining.
The loss was the worst OSU has suffered to the Buffaloes and the most points the Cowboys have allowed against CU.
OSU had won three in a row over Colorado.
This was the first meeting since the 2016 Alamo Bowl, and the first game in Boulder since 2008.
