‘I don’t think he’s going to want a trilogy’: Tyson Fury on Oleksandr Usyk rematch

Tyson Fury says he’s going to inflict “a lot of pain” on Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday.

Tyson Fury says he’s better-prepared for Saturday’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk compared to their first bout on May 18, and that if he were smarter, he likely would have pushed back that first fight a little further.

“This time it’s been a lot easier. I’ve done lots of sparring and been able to train properly, where before it’s no secret, I didn’t do a lot of sparring, hence I had a massive bounty on me,” Fury told Sky Sports.

“Thinking sensible, maybe I wouldn’t have — I would have pushed it back a bit and cost myself $10 million, but yeah, it doesn’t really matter. We’re here now and I’m going to do the job.”

Fury postponed the first fight due to a cut suffered in training camp, but went through with the bout within the timeframe to not forfeit a substantial amount of money.

Fury (34-1-1, 24 KO) also knows that Turki Alalshikh is looking to see a trilogy bout in 2025, but says Usyk (22-0, 14 KO) may not want a third fight after what happens this weekend.

“There’s going to be a lot of pain and I don’t think he’s going to want a trilogy, but if he does, good luck to him.”
