‘Weirdest games ever’ – Troy Deeney in shock after Bournemouth ace Justin Kuivert’s half-time gesture to Southampton fan

TROY DEENEY labelled Suothampton’s defeat to Bournemouth as one of the “weirdest games ever”.

The former Premier League star was covering the match and was left baffled after seeing Justin Kluivert‘s gesture to a Saints fan at half-time.

Andoni Iraola‘s side romped into a 2-0 lead with two goals in two first-half minutes from Dango Ouattara and Ryan Christie.

The second goal was set up by Kluivert as he assisted Christie before the shot.

But it was the Dutchman’s actions after the half-time whistle was blown that caught Deeney‘s attention.

The Cherries star could be seen giving his shirt to a supporter in the home end as he walked down the tunnel at the break.

This left Deeney baffled as he reported on the match.

He said on talkSPORT: “Bournemouth haven’t even got to a point yet where it feels like they’re about to take the handbrake off.

“They’re experimenting that for any little ball around the corner and a one-two, they’re in. And Southampton cannot keep up making these last-ditch tackles.

“I’ve counted five so far on my notes where it’s a last-ditch tackle. If they get that wrong either, they’re going through on goal 1v1 Bournemouth.

“Otherwise, a player’s being sent off. And it just cannot happen the way that it is.

“So to sum it up and put it all into a nice ribbon, we’ve just seen Kluivert, a Bournemouth player, go and give his shirt to a Southampton fan at half-time. And everyone was cheering.

“It’s one of the weirdest games of football I’ve ever been at in my life.

“I think that’s what you would call a heads-gone.”

Fans have reacted to the moment on social media with some home supporters claiming that the fan was a Cherry who had snuck into the Saints’ end.

One posted: “Must be a Bournemouth supporter.”

A second wrote: “Whoever asked for the Kluivert shirt at half time…. Absolute disgrace.”

A third commented: “Gown man begging for an opposition shirt at halftime, in Saints end ughhhh.”

Southampton did get back into the game in the second half as Kamaldeen Sulemana netted his first Premier League goal of the season.

However, hopes of a comeback were halted when Marcus Tavernier netted Bournemouth’s third of the match.
