Why Sonia Citron's underappreciated season at Notre Dame deserves more attention

When people think of Notre Dame women’s basketball this season, it’s easy to start with Hannah Hidalgo or Olivia Miles.

However, there’s another name you should know: Sonia Citron.

The senior guard has been quietly working her way up draft boards throughout the season, often landing in the top 10 picks, including in For The Win’s WNBA mock draft.

Why?

She’s like the nice, pretty bow that wraps around a present. The gift was great before without it, but now the spectacular bow has you questioning why you didn’t put it on sooner. In other words, she’s seemingly underrated. That’s a sentiment her teammate, Liatu King, has thoughts about.

“When people say she is underrated, it basically means that not enough people are talking about her. I just don’t understand why because she is a really good player,” King recently told CBS Sports‘ Isabel Gonzalez.
