LOOKING SPLENDID (2.25 Newcastle, nap)

Gary Rutherford’s seven-year-old should really have won at Musselburgh last time when he was asked to come from a mile back. He was flying at the finish but the line came too soon and he had to settle for third. Hopefully lessons will have been learned and he can be a bit closer to the pace today and go two better.

MONOCHROMIX (4.30 Newcastle, nb)

The handicapper has left his mark alone despite a close second at Ayr last time. He’s had a little break since then and is best over today’s trip. Anything like his best would be good enough.

WE GOT YOUR BACK (2.37 Southwell, treble)

He landed two good wins before getting stuck in the deep mud at Leicester last time. He gets much better ground today and can get back to winning ways dropped to his favourite distance.

DIAMOND MIX (3.25 Newcastle, Lucky 15)

He improved from his chase debut when a solid second here last time. Moving up half a mile looks a good call and he doesn’t need a lot more to get off the mark over the bigger obstacles under Ryan Mania.
