Sharks’ acquisitions from Ottawa Senators arrive in San Jose

0

SAN JOSE – Newly acquired forwards Noah Gregor and Zack Ostapchuk have both arrived in San Jose but it remains unclear when they’ll both be able to play a game for the Sharks.

Gregor and Ostapchuk were both acquired by the Sharks from Ottawa on Friday in the deal that saw winger Fabian Zetterlund and AHL forward Tristen Robins sent to the Senators organization.

While Zetterlund was preparing to play his first game for the Senators on Monday night when Ottawa hosts the Detroit Red Wings, Gregor and Ostapchuk were still waiting for their immigration paperwork to be completed, a Sharks spokesman said.

Gregor skated with the Sharks, his former team, during Monday morning’s practice. Ostapchuk also skated Monday morning, but worked just with development coach Mike Ricci away from the team.

Ostapchuk told Bay Area News Group that he wasn’t sure whether he would join the Sharks or remain on the roster of their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. Ostapchuk was with the AHL’s Belleville Senators before Friday’s trade and was placed on the Barracuda roster after the deal, which also saw the Sharks acquired a 2025 second round draft.

Ostapchuk, listed at 6 feet 4 inches and 212 pounds, is seen as the Sharks’ third-line center. His size gives the team a new look.
