Bay Area News Group boys athlete of the week: Matthew Derossett, Burlingame

Burlingame water polo player Matthew Derossett is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Oct. 13-18.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Derossett finished with 43.1% of the vote. Piedmont football player Xavier Henderson took second at 30.1% and Mountain View football player Ishan Devarapalli was third at 20.2%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Derossett, a senior, had five goals, two assists and two steals in a 15-7 victory over Priory. He began this week with 85 goals, 26 steals and 18 assists on the season.
