Singing about the guy thing
Henry Jamison is a man. A white man. A white middle-class man. A white middle-class man in the #MeToo era, questioning what it means to be male.
And as a singer-songwriter known for his airy vocals, reflective lyrics and nuanced alt-folk, Jamison does his questioning in music — in the album "Gloria Duplex," dropping Feb. 8 on Akira Records, and in his live act, which he'll be bringing to Upstate Concert Hall on Wednesday as an opener for Guster.
For Jamison, training a skeptical eye on masculinity is not an exercise in self-loathing. "The idea is basically not to feel so terrible about myself, or to say anything so terrible about anyone else," he said.
