Sonoma Raceway to remember late longtime spokesman John Cardinale
John Cardinale
The late longtime spokesman for Sonoma Raceway will be remembered as the track opens its 50th anniversary season with the eighth annual John’s March Against Stomach Cancer on Saturday morning. Fans can walk around the 2.5-mile road course in a fundraiser named for Cardinale, who died in 2013 after a two-year fight with stomach cancer. The disease is the third-leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. The event has raised more than $110,000 over its seven-year history. Registration is $40, which includes a T-shirt and light refreshments following the march. Five- and 10-kilometer distances are also available, as well as a shorter, less hilly course for those who don’t want to complete the full circuit.
